Strengthening CBOs

Paving the way for a more equitable and empowered society, where women are active change-makers

Aparajita Samajik Samiti firmly believes that strong community institutions are the foundation for a sustainable social change. With this vision, the organization has worked extensively in Bahraich district to establish and strengthen women-led community groups, empowering them to access their rights, participate in decision-making and uplift their families and communities.

By fostering self-reliant and well-informed community institutions, Aparajita continues to pave the way for a more equitable and empowered society, where women are not just beneficiaries but active change-makers in their communities.

Impact

  • 1,000 self-help groups,each comprising 20 women, formed
  • Collectively a network of 20,000 women formed
  • 50 “Nari Sangha” groups, each consisting of 30 women, formed to serve as a platform for dialogue and discussions
  • SHGs trained in financial literacy, savings and income-generation activities but also linked to various government schemes that provided them with social security, livelihood opportunities and financial inclusion
  • Through capacity-building programmes, training sessions and grassroots mobilization, Aparajita has transformed thousands of women into proactive community leaders. These empowered women are now advocating for their rights, supporting other marginalized women and ensuring their voices are heard in public forums
