Overview

Aparajita empowers women, promotes livelihoods, education and hygiene, fostering holistic community development.

Aparajita Samajik Samiti was formed in the year 2000 and registered under the Societies Registration Act (1860) and later under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act.

Initially, Aparajita’s focus was on attaining social justice and equality in the society by empowering women and creating awareness among them for their rights and entitlements through rights-based women’s actions like campaigns, rallies and interfaces with government functionaries, etc. The experiences of women’s action evolved the need of holistic approach of development. Thus, Aparajita added new portfolios like agriculture and livestock-based livelihood promotion among rural poor with special focus on women, education for girl child and water sanitation and hygiene.

Today, Aparajita is a field-based implementing organization, well known among community and development sector players for livelihood promotion (agriculture and allied), education programmes and women’s action.
