Climate Change Adaptation

Aparajita Samajik Samiti is dedicated to addressing climate change, environmental sustainability through a combination of community-led initiatives, sustainable agricultural practices and policy level dialogues. Aparajita integrates climate-smart agricultural practices and environmental conservation efforts to enhance resilience and sustainability in rural communities. It encourages water conservation practices and use of renewable energy, and conducts plantation drives and agroforestry as part of afforestation and green initiatives. It has taken up community awareness programmes on proper waste disposal, sewage treatment and drainage management while advocating for improved sanitation infrastructure in collaboration with government departments.

Impact

• Promotion of Climate-Resilient Agriculture: Training farmers in sustainable farming methods such as raised bed cultivation, Direct Seeded Rice (DSR), and the use of high-yielding, flood-resistant paddy varieties in flood-prone areas of Gorakhpur and Bahraich districts.
• Water Conservation and Renewable Energy: Encouraging the use of solar irrigation systems to reduce dependency on non-renewable energy sources.
• Afforestation and Green Initiatives: Conducting plantation drives and promoting agroforestry to enhance green cover and reduce carbon footprint.
• Waste and Sewage Management: Raising community awareness on proper waste disposal, sewage treatment, and drainage management while advocating for improved sanitation infrastructure in collaboration with government departments.
